Southern Emergency Response Training and Logistics Center

Technician Level Twenty-four hours

The responders at the technician level are personnel who stop or control spills or leaks of hazardous substances. They are able to contain or stop spills or leaks by approaching the point of release using specialized PPE and control devices.
This training aims to improve responders’ abilities to assess on-scene situations, take corresponding actions, and carry out decontamination and restoration procedures, so as to enrich advanced responders with knowledge required to protect life and property.
This training introduces relevant regulations and standards, properties and toxicology of chemicals, hazard identification and risk assessment, emergency response procedures, hazard detection devices, PPE, disaster control, spill containment and control, zoning of contaminated areas, and decontamination. Trainees must pass the awareness-level and operation-level training prior to taking the technician-level training.
