Southern Emergency Response Training and Logistics Center

Personal Protection Equipment
Personal protective equipment (PPE) training is one of the fundamental courses in the training for ER personnel. In the PPE training, trainees will understand the differences between protective equipment of various levels, the limitations of use, the types of protection and the principles of selecting equipment. They will also be able to wear PPE of each level during the training to familiarize themselves with the key points, which includes how to test their own PPE to ensure its protective function and avoid damage to the PPE when wearing it. After the training, they will understand all the possible influences and obstacles they may encounter when wearing PPE in real incidents.

SERT is capable of inspecting and maintaining PPE. SERT has the air cylinder filling system and is able to carry out air tightness testing on protective clothing, functional testing on self-contained breathing apparatus, leak testing on respirators, etc. By doing so, SERT can not only maintain the quality of training but also provide courses on the maintenance and functional testing methods of various protective equipment."
